Mexican Ponche Navideño is a beloved holiday beverage that encapsulates the vibrant flavors of Christmas in Mexico. This warm and aromatic punch is crafted with a delightful medley of special ingredients, including seasonal fruits like tejocotes, guavas, apples, and sugarcane. Cinnamon sticks, and hibiscus flowers add a fragrant and spicy dimension, while piloncillo, a traditional Mexican unrefined sugar, sweetens the concoction. The result is a festive brew that not only warms the soul but also fills the air with the scents of the holiday season.
Under the expert guidance of Naty, our skilled instructor, we were fortunate to learn the art of crafting this authentic holiday drink. Naty’s passion for preserving Mexican culinary traditions and her dedication to using fresh, quality ingredients made the learning experience both enjoyable and educational. We learned about some ‘new to us’ ingredients like piloncillo and loved visiting a local Latin Market, Tienda Latina, to find a few special ingredients. As we sipped on our creations, we couldn’t help but appreciate the fantastic combination of flavors- spicy, sweet, a hint of sour… sooo good! This festive beverage, shared and enjoyed in the company of friends and family, is a testament to the rich cultural heritage and the joyous spirit of Mexican Christmas celebrations. We will definitely be brining this Mexican holiday drink to our table and we hope you give it a try!
